Big news for the community — the Vinton War Memorial Park is nearly finished and officials say the project is now about 90% complete. The newly constructed park is designed to serve residents of all ages, giving families, kids, and seniors a new place to gather, play, and relax right here in town.
The park will feature:
• A brand new playground
• A skate park
• Two pickleball courts
• A walking path
• A picnic pavilion
• Modern restroom facilities

The official ribbon cutting and grand opening is scheduled for Thursday, April 2, 2026 from 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM.
The ceremony will begin at 3:00 PM with brief remarks and the official ribbon cutting, followed by a community celebration with refreshments, music, and giveaways. Families are encouraged to attend and enjoy the new space together.

Available at the Vinton War Memorial parking lot (814 E. Washington Avenue) located just below the park.
The project was made possible thanks to support from the Virginia Outdoors Foundation, Bank of Botetourt, and the Vinton Breakfast Lions Club.
This new park is expected to become a major gathering spot for the Vinton community, bringing recreation, outdoor activity, and family fun to the area.
