A Roanoke man was killed Thursday evening following a crash on Interstate 581 near the Valley View Mall entrance ramp, according to Virginia State Police.
Authorities say the crash happened around 5:09 p.m. on March 5 in the southbound lanes of I-581.
Police report that Anthony Lee Spencer, 38, of Roanoke, was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle at a high rate of speed and changing lanes when he struck the rear of a Ford Explorer SUV.
Spencer died at the scene.
The driver of the Ford Explorer was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to state police.
