Teen Arrested After Fatal Stabbing in Botetourt County Home
BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. — January 25, 2026
A late-night domestic incident in Botetourt County turned deadly Saturday after a 16-year-old boy was arrested in connection with the stabbing death of his father, according to the Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were called to a residence in the 2000 block of Old Fincastle Road around 11:10 p.m. following reports of an altercation inside the home. When deputies arrived, they found an adult male suffering from a stab wound to the chest.
Investigators say an argument broke out between the teenager and his father, during which the father was stabbed. Despite emergency and lifesaving efforts at the scene, the man was pronounced dead from his injuries.
The 16-year-old sustained cuts to his legs that deputies say were not related to the altercation. He was transported to Roanoke Memorial Hospital for medical treatment before being taken into custody.
Authorities say the teen is facing multiple charges, including second-degree murder, discharging a firearm inside an occupied dwelling, brandishing a firearm, and two counts of domestic assault on family members.
The sheriff’s office emphasized that the incident appears to be isolated and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The investigation remains active. Deputies noted that details released so far are based on preliminary findings and could change as detectives continue interviewing witnesses, reviewing physical and electronic evidence, and analyzing forensic information.
More information is expected to be released as the investigation progresses.
