BEDFORD, Va. — Bedford Police announced Thursday that a 39-year-old man has been arrested and charged with multiple felony offenses involving crimes against children.
According to the Bedford Police Department, Gregory Johnson was taken into custody on six felony warrants following an investigation into the allegations. Authorities say the charges include three counts of rape, two counts of taking indecent liberties with a child, and one count of forcible sodomy under Virginia law.
Police have not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding the investigation, including when the alleged offenses occurred or whether there may be additional victims. Officials also did not disclose Johnson’s relationship to the alleged victims.
Johnson is currently being held pending further court proceedings. No bond information was immediately available as of Thursday.
The Bedford Police Department stated that investigations involving crimes against children are handled with special care and urged anyone with relevant information to contact law enforcement. Authorities also encouraged community members to report suspected abuse to help protect vulnerable individuals.
The case remains under investigation, and all charges are allegations until proven in court.
