73-YEAR-OLD SCHOOL BUS DRIVER ARRESTED — CHILD STRANGLED ON BUS IN SHOCKING INCIDENT

A disturbing situation out of Lynchburg VA has parents across the region talking tonight.

According to Lynchburg Police, a school bus driver ( Effie Wynn, 73, of Lynchburg) has been arrested after an incident involving a child on a bus at Linkhorne Elementary School.

Police say the investigation began on March 30 after reports of a disorderly individual. What they uncovered was far more serious — authorities allege that a bus driver assaulted a student while the bus was parked in the school lot.

Investigators determined the child was strangled during the encounter. Thankfully, officials say the child is safe and did not suffer life-threatening injuries.

👉 Effie Wynn, 73, of Lynchburg has been charged with:

Strangulation
Child neglect

She is currently being held at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail without bond.

The investigation remains active, and anyone with information is asked to contact Lynchburg Police.
