Man Identified as Marc Edward Fly, Facing Felony Charges After Bandy Road Standoff in Roanoke (Video)

ROANOKE, Va. — A domestic incident that escalated into a barricade situation Tuesday night on Bandy Road ended with a man (Marc Edward Fly). in custody and facing multiple felony charges after a tense police response that also unfolded publicly on Facebook.

The incident happened Tuesday, August 18, in the 3300 block of Bandy Road in Roanoke.

According to Roanoke Police, officers initially responded to a domestic incident that developed into a barricade situation. Police said the man involved was the only person inside the residence during the standoff.

As officers remained outside the home, a Facebook Live video posted from inside the residence began circulating across social media.

The video appeared to have been recorded by the man barricaded inside the home and offered a look at what was happening from his perspective while police were positioned outside.

During portions of the video, the man appeared to be holding a firearm while speaking about the situation and his interactions with law enforcement.

At points during the livestream, he also made statements about suicide and said he was not going back to prison.

The Facebook Live video was shared and reposted widely as the standoff continued, drawing significant attention from people following the developing situation online.

Police eventually took the man into custody, bringing the barricade situation to an end.

Suspect Identified

Booking records filed the following day identified the man as Marc Edward Fly.

Fly was booked on August 19, 2026, following the Bandy Road incident.

Booking information lists felony charges including:

  • Statutory burglary of a dwelling while committing another felony or assault and battery with a deadly weapon
  • Abduction by force, deception or other means without legal justification

Booking records also indicate Fly was being held without bond following his arrest.

The exact circumstances behind each charge, including the events that occurred before police arrived at the residence, have not yet been fully detailed publicly.

Facebook Live Video Circulates During Standoff

One of the most unusual aspects of the incident was the real-time video posted to Facebook while the police standoff was still underway.

The footage appeared to show Fly inside the residence while officers remained outside. A firearm could be seen during portions of the video, and Fly made several emotional statements about the situation.

He also discussed the possibility of killing himself and repeatedly referenced not wanting to return to prison.

Roanoke Police had said the barricaded man was the only individual inside the residence during the standoff.

Fly was ultimately taken into custody, and no fatality was reported as a result of the barricade situation.

By Wednesday, the man at the center of the incident had been identified, booked and was facing serious felony allegations.
